If you require more flexibility then I suggest roaming with your own cell phone. The GSM cellular phone is becoming the primary way to communicate personally in Barbados. 

 

If you are visiting Barbados you can bring your multipiple frequency GSM phone with you and if your provider has approved in advance you can roam.

 

If your GSM provider has unlocked the SIM in your phone you can purchase a SIM from a Barbados provider and it will function as a local cell phone.  A pay as you go plan is the ideal type of plan and recharge cards are available 24 / 7 from a large variety of retailers.

 

The GSM providers are ATT - Cable and Wireless http://www.bmobile.com.bb/ - Digicell.

 

A high speed internet connection is provided but ADSL service from the local carrier can be unreliable.
